Violet Hall is familiar with the hockey world: her stepfather is a scout, her stepbrother is a famous NHL player and her ex-boyfriend was a player too (in all senses of the word). So, she has zero interest in getting involved with someone from that world. Well, until she ends up playing tonsil hockey with her stepbrother’s teammate and captain, Alex Waters. He’s a pretty boy with a reputation but he surprises the hell out of her when he shows her his intellect is far superior than the hockey players’ she’s met before. And he definitely surprises her with his prowess with the massive hockey stick in his pants. (Yeah, I went there…) She assumes this is going to be a one-night stand, but more surprises are coming her way: Alex sends her messages, calls, sends her quirky gifts… Is she going to fall down that trap again?

I met Violet and Alex in the All In series by Helena Hunting, so I already knew a lot about what happens to them, but Violet is such a quirky and funny character that I decided to go back to the beginning to see how they fell in love. I wasn’t expecting to love it so much, considering it wasn’t a surprise to me, but oh boy I LOVED IT. Alex Waters is not perfect , but he is right up there in the top spots of my book boyfriend list. He is hotter than hell and he is at the same time the king of consent and respect. The way he treats Violet is so so swoony. Yeah, yeah , yeah, he fucks up monumentally with her, but there is an explanation as to why he acted like that. It doesn’t justify his actions but it explains them.

And may we all get to have an MC in our lives! 😉 (yeah, I went there… again!)

Side note: the epilogue is LMAO funny.

I definitely recommend this one!

Narration: Muffy Newtown is the alias of one of my favorite narrators and I knew she was going to be a perfect Violet. I have to confess that I switched to reading when it got to the Alex chapters. I thought the narration was a bit monotone and kinda rushed, and when you compare it to Muffy’s, it just didn’t do it for me. I also though the Canadian accent was a little bit weird.
