Pucked#6

Author: Helena Hunting

Kindle edition, KU

Darren Westinghouse is an NHL hockey player. He’s not a relationship guy. The few he had were shrouded in secrecy, which adds to a certain aura of speculation as to why. Charlene Hoar (what an unfortunate surname!!)  is the firefly that catches his eye. But he knows he can never put a lid on the jar and or he will kill his firefly. She also harbors a secret and when both of their secrets come out in the open, can they overcome everything and find a way to forever love?

Darren and Charlene have been present since book 1. She’s Violet best friend and he is Alex’s, so we are familiar with them. At the same time, we are also kinda suspicious of what the hell goes on between the two of them. Incredibly discrete, we know that they are together, but no one knows exactly what that means.

We think we get a glimpse into their world, when one day Darren arrives home with his teammates to a very special surprise from Charlene: she’s right there, waiting for him in the buff, surrounded by all sorts of BDSM sex toys. It’s cringeworthy for everyone as you might suspect and speculations fly even higher among the friends as to what happens when those two close the doors.

But not everything is as it seems, and without spoiling anyone, let’s just say that “meeting the parents” is as cringeworthy as the situation above!

I loved finally getting to know what makes Charlene and Darren tick and to see a little bit more of what is happening in the lives of our beloved characters. At the same time, it’s a little bit sad… we are saying goodbye to them, after all, as this is the last book in the series.

This book is lighter than the previous one, though it does touch some hard subjects, but the shenanigans are back!

Be prepared to find out who is a dominatrix, who is a pothead (without knowing!!!), who is very close to porn stars and why the hell Charlene is so afraid of camper vans!

I had a wonderful time reading this series!

Bonus: if you decide to read the All In series, and you should, some of our beloved characters make appearances.

Possible triggers: childhood trauma, detachment from parents, extremely repressive parental figures, mentions of BDSM
