Getting Some #3

Author: Emma Chase

Audiobook, Audible Plus

Narrators: Andi Arnt and Zachary Webber

Connor Daniels is a 43 year old ER doctor who has been divorced for a couple of years. He is now the single dad for three young boys who are his world. That doesn’t scream exciting love life, but he has noticed a cute (but young) ER nurse…

Violet Robinson is an ER nurse and she has had a thing for Connor since forever. With the help of meddling brothers and friends, Connor and Violet are paired up to attend Connor’s brother’s wedding. One thing leads to another…

Dating the single father with a complicated ex-wife is not exactly a walk in the park, and when tragedy strikes, will they be able to get through it all?

This is a very nice, sweet and low angst book. Although there are the classic miscommunication plot points, I really liked how Violet tried to be rational and not fall into crazy thoughts and just trust Connor. Poor Connor screwed up a couple fo times just because he’s so off the ‘dating game’ he has no idea what he’s doing!

I loved Violet’s interactions with the boys and also the fact that, although she does some shitty things, the ex-wife is not a villain.  A nice, sweet book. Perfect for a rainy day with a cup of tea.

Narration: We get two amazing actors. Andi Arndt is like the Meryl Streep of narrators, so you know that she will nail the role. Zachary gets the chance to show his acting chops when that aforementioned tragedy strikes the Daniels family. His performance is heartbreaking.

Possible triggers: children feeling the aftermath of divorced, serious car accident, mentions of situations occurring in an ER
