Spoiler Alert #2

Author: Olivia Dade

Alex Woodroe is the quintessential Hollywood star: he has the charm, the looks, the fame, the money… and he is “difficult”. The thing is, he deals with ADHD and, even with medication, he has to control his impulsive behavior all the time. He has been VERY frustrated with the development of his character in the megahit TV show “Gods of The Gates” and his fuse is pretty short. When an incident occurs at a bar on location and he ends up arrested, the showrunners assign him a “minder” whose only job is to keep him out of trouble. Enter “Nanny Clegg”, a former ER therapist with unconventional looks who doesn’t put up with his crap. Being forced together and getting to know their true selves can only lead to “real” Cupid working its charm on them.

I was a little afraid to read this one. I absolutely adored Spoiler Alert for its uniqueness and I was afraid this would either copy it and be formulaic or it would not reach my expectations. I also thought I was going to be VERY annoyed by Alex, who is a sweeter and cuter version of Russell Brand – who can annoy the crap out of a saint, just saying. He does get on my nerves at times, but knowing that most of his behavior comes from very heavy baggage he carries with him and that he deals with severe ADHD made me forgive most of his Alex-ness – exactly like Lauren Clegg does.

I have seen some criticism of how Lauren behaves – she basically manifested the “cloak of invisibility” in order to live her life. Again (and I will rant about it till Judgment Day), if you are not a plus sized woman in a Size Zero world, we don’t need your opinions. Believe me, we get them. A LOT. Unsolicited. So, I completely understand Lauren and I loved show she came out in the end.

I took half a star out of this one for two little things: we do see Marcus, but I wished for Marcus AND April. And if you were waiting for “The Peg That Was Promised”, you are in for a world of hurt. Prepare yourself for disappointment. LOL

Possible triggers: fatphobia, bullying, toxic family relationships, spousal abuse (off page), main character has ADHD
