Rules of Love #2

Audiobook, Audible

Author: Lauren Blakely

Narrators: Jason Clarke and Ava Erickson

Reese is just about to graduate college and she has a kick-ass podcast where she interviews athletes. Being a volleyball player herself, she loves sports and it shows in her interviews. She decides to contact Holden, a baseball player who’s a rising star, as he graduated from the same university she goes too. Holden accepts an interview and a walk through campus. The interview goes smoothly and they  extend it to dinner and to an incredible night together that is interrupted by a sudden change in Holden’s traveling arrangements. They decide to keep in touch, but both are focused on their new careers and they lose touch. Reese leaves for South America for a couple of years and Holden focuses on his career.

But they are in the back of each other’s minds, and when, two years later, they meet by chance at a party, they believe they are meant to be. The universe must be putting them together, right? Well, not exactly, because the same universe also throws an unexpected wrench: she is his new coach’s daughter… and now forbidden to him. But can they stay away from each other?

This is a very low angst love story, even the conflict and forbidden factor is pretty low. We get to see a bit of Crosby and Nadia from book 1 (though this can be pretty much read as a standalone) and we get a little bit more about Grant (Reese’s best friend) and Declan, who have their own story told in the Men of Summer series. Book 2 is a really nice addition to the Rules of Love series.

Narration: The book is wonderfully narrated by Jason Clarke and Ava Erickson.
