Decker’s got it all figured out: a veteran quarterback, respected by his teammates and the management, he can tackle anything that comes his way. Well, not exactly. His team’s owner , a father figure and beloved friend to Decker, has passed away unexpectedly. Enter Hannah Strong, estranged daughter of the owner: she is some finance wizard from NYC, who has zero knowledge of anything football related and definitely not the slightest idea of how to manage an NFL team. Well, she may be uptight, infuriatingly clueless about everything, but she looks oh-so-damn good in a skirt and she now owns the team, and consequently, him… Decker, formerly known as The Panty Wrecker, doesn’t stand a chance.
As a Brazilian, I feel it’s my patriotic duty to say that FOOTBALL is that thing Americans call soccer (snort of derision). That being said, as an American I also unfortunately have, like Hannah, zero interest in or knowledge of any of the two. But my favorite author decided to venture into writing sportsball books, so something good will definitely come out of it. Genius that she is, she teamed up with the super duper talented Connor Crais, who narrated several of her books and it is a match made in romance writing heaven!
Decker is sooooo good! He’s perfect book boyfriend material! I already know Kayley’s voice really well and it blends seamlessly with Connor’s. I am particularly impressed that I wasn’t bored with the football talk! Seriously! I was engrossed in the story and was even rooting for the Tomcats! Well, kinda, because I have zero idea of what happens in a football field (court?)! So, if you don’t care for sports like me, but love a good story, by all means dive into this one. I completely identified with poor Hannah! I really don’t care what that man is doing on that field because he is amazing off the field too! Just sayin’
(If you are a fan of 80s movies, a shoutout to Duckie, who should’ve gotten the girl. Read it, you’ll know what I am talking about and you will swoon!)
