The Vessel Trilogy#1 (re-release)

Author: Juliette Cros

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When Genevieve Drake woke up on her 20th birthday, all she wanted was a movie marathon at home. Mindy, her roommate. convinces her to hit the clubs to celebrate. She is no damsel in distress and she can hold her own, so when a guy keeps coming on strong she just brushes him off. When she leaves the club, he follows her and tries to choke her. Out of nowhere, a handsome stranger appears, literally slashes the douchy guy in half, extracts a demon from him and burns it to a crisp. A flabbergasted Gen finds out that his name is Jude Delacroix and he is a Master of Demons. Not only that, she learns that she herself is a Vessel, one born to serve the Light, who’s just been “activated” by turning 20. She’s highly coveted by demons because, if corrupted, she can serve as a weapon of darkness.

Now, with the help of Jude, Genevieve will try to survive in this totally unknown world.

(This is a re-release of the trilogy with added content and new covers)

This is a page-turner! You immediately fall in love with Genevieve, the young, badass Literature major, who can read Latin and kick serious ass (literally). As this is told through her point of view, you also go through the process of discovering who she really is and how important she is in the grand scheme of things.

Jude is a tortured hero – he’s been around for ages and now he’s totally smitten with his ward. But Gen can’t be touched, as she has to remain  “untainted”. He carries the burden of protecting her not only because of who she is but because he loves her. Considering that she loves him back, his job is a thousand times harder.

We also have an amazing cast of secondary character – you even meet a bona-fide Catholic saint! The crafting of this hidden world is so so good and you can’t put the book down!

This book has a “partial resolution”, but I can’t wait for book #2!

Possible triggers: violence, parental suicide, attempted rape, attempted sexual coercion
