Copper Valley Fireballs #1

Audiobook, Audible

Author: Pippa Grant

Narrators: Andi Arndt and Jacob Morgan

Brooke Ellis got traded from the team he loves to the worst team in baseball history: the Copper Valley Fireballs. He believes that this is the perfect opportunity to get rid of a pesky superstition: he is sure that, if he keeps his pants zipped, he plays well. Oh, will you look at that, he’s in a shitty team now, so it’s definitely time to unzip those pants because it won’t make difference. Time to ditch that V-card! Yup, he’s been holding out all for the love of the game.

He wasn’t counting on meeting Mackenzie, the most devoted and most superstitious fan of the Fireballs. When she learns that he intends to “put her team at risk” of getting even worse, she takes it upon herself to be the guardian of his virtue and “jock blocks” the heck out of Brooks.

What both of them weren’t expecting was that they’d end up really liking each other, making it impossible for Mackenzie to resist his charms.

This is a zany, LOL, screwball comedy, with a Meatball Mascot, an adorable puppy with a talking collar, two fabulous drag queens and all sorts of shenanigans.

Although it’s book 1 in a series, you can tell that all the secondary characters come from previous books. It doesn’t take away from the book too much, but I am sure I would have enjoyed it even more if I had read the books this series is a spin-off of.

If you want a funny, feel good comedy, this one is for you. The virgin hero might take a little bit of suspension of disbelief (well, hello, between seasons!!!!) and the crazy superstitions may be a little too much if you are not into sports, but take it as an “I Love Lucy” episode – it’s fiction, y’all!

Narrations: Andi Arndt is great (DUH!) and Jacob is so so so so good! We even get to listen to him sing a little (it’s “drunk singing” but he still manages to sound good!)

Great fun!
