The Perfect Game #3

Audiobook, Audible

Author: Samatha Christy

Narrators: Erin Mallon and Zachary Webber

Sawyer Mills is the NY Nighthawks’ fvckboy. He’s the quintessential “one and done” player and party boy… until the team higher ups are done with his sexual shenanigans (not even the assistant coach’s daughter was spared, making them create a “dating team members or family strictly forbidden” rule). They threaten to trade him all the way to Kansas City. He has one option: settle down or off he goes. No way. New York City is his home.

When he leaves the fateful meeting, he literally bumps into Aspen in front of a bar. She’s having a shitty day herself. She was just accepted into the highly coveted Juilliard Master’s program but she can’t afford it now because her twin brother is in serious debt and all her money will be used to try to keep him out of jail. They decide to have some drinks and Sawyer ends going home with her. When he leaves in the morning, it hits him: she’s perfect to pose as his girlfriend and convince the team owner and the managers that he is “reformed”. Aspen needs the money, he needs a girlfriend – what could go wrong?

When we met Sawyer in the previous books, we just knew there had to be a reason why he managed to be even worse than Brady. He doesn’t even remember the women he hooked up with. He guards his heart so fiercely that only someone as different as Aspen could break into that fortress. It’s sweet to see him fall deeper and deeper in love with her without even realizing it. And we all knew there was a man with heart of gold underneath all the douchiness.

The characters from the previous book are all heavily present in this one but it can definitely be read as a standalone.

Dual narration by the amazing duo, Erin Mallon and Zachary Webber. You already know how much of a fan I am, but let’s give them a thousand stars once more.

Possible triggers: death of a parent, brain damage due to injury, mentions of spousal and child physical and emotional abuse, excessive drinking
