Blue is The Color #1

Audiobook, Audible

Author: Julia Wolf

Dalia Brenner really doesn’t want to accompany her sister to a concert. She doesn’t even like the freaking band! So, when after a couple of songs, one of the band members (clearly stoned or drunk, she thinks) gets sick on stage and the concert is canceled, she’s oh so very pissed. And what do pissed off millennials do? They rant on social media. When the lead singer retweets her post and calls her the C-word, hell breaks loose. His fans go after her ( the band member was actually sick and in the hospital) and she ends up losing her job because of the attention she’s getting (as not all publicity is good publicity).

Nick Fletcher wasn’t thinking clearly when he went off on Twitter and now his impulsive behavior is coming back to bite him in the ass – as a PR move, he’ll apologize and they will offer Dalia a job with the tour. Why oh why did she have to be so spunky… and curvy … and everything? Life on the tour bus just turned into hell…

I really wanted to love this book. I love the rockstar trope and the feisty heroine… but from page 1 I couldn’t find myself liking either MC. They both come off as mean and it took me forever to get into the story. Why didn’t I DNF, you ask? NARRATION. I can’t praise Connor Crais enough and he was still a baby narrator in this one! His Nick is just perfect! And now that he’s an author himself, please please, Connor, find a way to sing in every book you write?! Just so good! Jennifer Boom is new to me and she has a nice voice and does a great job with Dalia. You can hear Dalia’s ennui and snark.

Again, it’s a well written book, I just couldn’t get invested enough in the characters. Maybe next time. And yep, it’s steamy! 😉
