The STEMinists Novellas #3

audiobook, Audible

Author: Ali Hazelwood

Narrator: Savannah Peachwood

Third installment in the STEMinists (love the pun!) novellas, this ones brings us a story about Hannah, whose only purpose in life is to work for NASA.

Five years ago, she had a scorching and unforgettable encounter with Ian (a former boy genius who already worked at NASA himself), but Hannah doesn’t do relationships. Hell, Hannah doesn’t even do dinner! So, much to Ian’s dismay, they part ways.

Now, when they both work at their dream jobs, Ian vetoes Hannah’s revolutionary dream project. It’s the dream of a lifetime and Hannah is beyond pissed. A colleague (the same one who outed Ian as the supposedly secret veto vote) says he managed to secure the funds for the project, but she will have to cut some “extras”. She heads to Norway and finds herself in a major pickle: caught in the middle of a snow storm, with a sprained ankle , not enough gear to survive this, and the knowledge that they won’t be coming for her until the storms pass. To her utter surprise, Ian comes to her rescue, braving the inclement weather to make sure she is safe. All that by himself, with no help from NASA or any other organization. Yup, he’s risking everything just to save her. Has Hannah misjudged Ian?

Told in Hannah’s POV, this is a lovely, short, sweet, and steamy ride! Hannah is the feisty, commitment-phobe scientist who can’t believe that Ian is actually into her. Ian is the sort of shy, a little socially awkward genius, who is smitten by “the one who got away.. without even a single proper date”.

Short, sweet, adorable – and we get to see a little bit of Sadie and Mara too. Lots of fun!

Wonderful narration by Savannah Peachwood

Possible triggers and representation: heroine is bisexual; heroine is stuck in an arctic snow storm with no hope for immediate help
