Man In Charge Duet

Author: Laurelin Paige

Narrators: Emily Roya and Jacob Morgan

Picking up exactly where Man in Charge left off, we now know that Scott Sebastian is a huge @$$ liar. Now all secrets are in the open and it’ll take a huge amount of trust for Tess to actually believe in everything he had told her about them as a couple.

Since the “secret” is pretty much what makes the plot of this book move, I’m leaving you here in the dark because spoilers.

This second part of the duet is where all the swoon meets the spice. Scott finally falling in love is what we were hoping and expecting since he met Tess and when he falls he falls hard. I was a little confused, though, about how the “man in charge” is such a pawn in the hands of his father. But then again we need conflict or stories would be boring, right?

In the notes, we also learn that the author did indeed find inspiration in “Working Girl” and I loved how she made “the other woman” not evil or a just a plain b!tch. I also loved the little “plot twist” at the end concerning Kendra. I also adore the grandfather!! What I liked most, though, is that Tess is never a doormat and she never just accepts things. And at the same time she was smart enough to wait to judge and not doing it based on appearances (most of the time 😉 ) .

It was also enlightening to learn more about POTS (the author’s daughter has POTS, so I can only assume this is good representation). The author is also half-Iranian as our heroine.

All in all (despite this being teh dreaded DUET that I lo@the) I really enjoyed this story!

Narration: As excellent as book 1 and yes, we have outtakes!

Rep and possible triggers: same as first book with more emphasis on a very toxic relationship with parents. Bisexual rep.

If you’d like to learn more about living with POTS, follow @avasromancebooks (she’s also  @chronicallycourageous). She has excellent YouTube channels with the same names. She has great content and is such a sweet girl. Go meet her.
