Wait With Me #5

KU e-book, Audible audiobook

Author: Amy Daws

Narrators: Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton

Max Fletcher, big bossy millionaire, needs a nanny – desperately. His ex-wife in working overseas for the whole summer and he needs someone to help with his daughter, Everly, in her numerous summer activities.  Enter Cozy Barlow, literally the “last on the list”, with a less than stellar nanny CV, wearing tie-dye to a job interview. Hell, no! But his daughter falls in love immediately with the plus-sized (in heart and body) 26-year-old and hires her herself on the stop. Now Max has to put up with this woman who seems to think that there is nothing better than “doing nothing”. She’s kind of bizarre and seems to be hate everything he supposedly stands for: money, power, corporate work mentality. He’s also very disturbed by the fact that he just can’t take his eyes off the nanny! What he doesn’t know, but will soon find out, is that his nanny is having the same problem.

I have to start this by saying that it’s very hard to write kids and Everly is just all kinds of adorable! The nanny plot has been done to death but I enjoyed the fact that this is a plus-sized woman and not the conventional “hot nanny”. I absolutely loved that Max thought the plus-sized girl was “the hot nanny”.

It’s a sweet story of two broken people coming together. Although Max and Cozy have problems to overcome, it’s pretty much a low angst story.

Although this is book 5, I had no problem reading it as a standalone. I’m sure if you read them you will have fun revisiting several characters.

A delightful read/listen for a lazy summer day.

Narration: Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton, so there is no way this can’t be good! I particularly enjoy when Erin does quirky characters.

Rep and possible triggers: plus-sized heroine, Everly’s mother is married to another woman. Mentions of anxiety and panic attacks; one character has suffered a mild stress induced stroke.
