Not a member of the royal guard, but hired from an elite private security firm, Mr Rhys Larsen is tall, scary, and utterly fascinating with his gunmetal gray eyes and tattoos. They butt heads immediately because Rhys has a more “vigilant” approach than his predecessor; Bridget is nice and sweet but she has the backbone of steel becoming a princess and she just won’t have it.
When her brother suddenly abdicates to marry a commoner, Bridget in thrown into a life she didn’t prepare for and never aspired to. Rhys decides to help her with a “bucket list” of regular things she wants to do before her new life takes over… Oh yeah, he’s going to help her. Yes, he is, because he can’t have her… but he’s taking her anyway.
This was so much fun! It has a timeline that overlaps heavily with book 1 and I strongly suggest reading that first. It’s a instants but slow burn romance due to the forbidden aspect of it and the pining is sooooo good! Rhys is no Prince Charming (he’s alpha AF and grumpy to boot) but Bridget is no fairy tale princess either and when they cave and let their feelings take over they set their little private world on fire.
This is a very modern fairy tale romance and if you like a bodyguard/princess story, enjoy royal shenanigans and sexual tension, look no further – this one is gold.
