Author: Ali Hazelwood
Dr. Bee Königswasser has just got the job she always dreamed of: working as a neuroscientist at NASA. But… when she finds out she has to work with Dr. Levi Ward, she has to ask the question that helps her with everything in her life: what would Marie do? After all, Dr. Marie Curie faced all the obstacles a woman in STEM like herself does. You see, she and Levi are arch-nemesis. The guy made it clear in the past that he finds her unattractive and basically incompetent, but she won’t let him get in her way of the job of a lifetime!
Oh, I love Ali Hazelwood’s books! I love that they are science-y, nerdy and funny. In this one, you get a literally swoony heroine (like, the girl faints at the drop of a hat) and the most delicious pining (“it’s always been you”) hero.
There’s a secret identities plot (that has the best “You’ve Got Mail” and “Spoiler Alert” vibes), an unexpected villain, a “phantom” kitten, a very real cat, and lots of sweet and seggsy moments.
The “trademark” terms all over the book are a hoot. The titles of the chapter are so nerdy I was in heaven!
I absolutely loved this!!!
Rep and possible triggers: FMC is in STEM, secondary character suffers from epilepsy; loss of parents, loss of a best friend (past), feelings of abandonment, mentions of cheating and betrayal (not MCs), toxic relationship with parents
