Work For It #5

Author: Aly Styles

Nash Ellis is a musician. Period. That’s what he knows: producing, writing, composing, performing. But sadly, it hasn’t been paying the bills. So when his best friend and roommate gets him a paid internship, he reluctantly takes the job. The only “fun” thing about this job is the cute, all-work-and-no-play Paige Andrews, the other intern.

Paige thinks she has Nash’s number – a slacker, incompetent, pretty boy (all caps on pretty there) who clearly doesn’t belong in the corporate world with his tattoos and broody musician ways. Apparently, he’s hiding a lot under that façade.

When the duo is forced into the zaniest “corporate espionage” mission headed by the least competent person in the entire corporate world, sparks will fly. This high-stakes mission requires deep knowledge of the music industry and they’ll be thrown right back into a world Nash has been avoiding like the plague.  From NYC to LA, amongst country star divas and cockamamie plans, they find their way to each other.

If you are an Aly fan like myself, you’re probably asking “where’s the angst?!”. Never fear, Nash is the quintessential Aly Styles rockstar hero. I love how this is a romantic comedy with some serious LOL moments, and still has the “Aly touch” all over it.

I enjoyed how these two came to be together and how Paige was the MVP in the “Accidental Avengers” tale. Noah is the “bad boy with heart of gold” (though his heart is in need of a lot of TLC) we all love to swoon over.

A wonderful addition to Aly’s books and the the Smartypants romance list.

Possible triggers: mentions of living in foster care, bullying, extremely toxic relationship with parents.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
