Bellamy Creek #3

Audible audiobook

Author: Melanie Harlow

Narrators: Samantha Brentmoor and Teddy Hamilton

Enzo is in a pickle: he reached the age of 35 and he’s still single. What’s the problem, you say? Well, if he’s not settled down and married soon, he’ll be passed on as the heir of his father’s construction business. So, he needs a wife. Now. Enter Bianca de Rossi. They’ve known each other forever and they don’t exactly like each other, but Enzo needs a wife and Bianca offers to marry him – in exchange of, shall we say, his “genetic material”. She wants a baby and she needs a donor and she might as well get a donor she knows and appease her family. So, they draw a contract: get married, get the business, get pregnant, get divorced. Hands off (all very clinical) and no feelings. They’ll co-parent as “friends”. The only problem is she’s always been attracted to the jerk and he can’t believe how gorgeous and fun she grew up to be… and the rules are broken on their wedding night! Add two very Italian, very Catholic and very meddling families and their plans get off the rails very very soon…

This is a standalone though it’s book 3 in the Bellamy Creek series. It was a fun read but I must confess that I was very annoyed by the infamous third act conflict as it felt little “teenagersish”. It would have been a perfect book if these two kinda like acted their age. However, it was fun to follow their journey to their HEA.

Narration: I keep saying narration can do so much for a book and this is one of these cases. Teddy Hamilton is perfect as the cocky, cooky and sometimes clueless Enzo and there are no words to convey how good Samantha Brentmoor is. Period.
