If Hudson Newgate gets called to the management office he knows – he’s been traded. To be honest, he’s fed up with it already. So, he’s going to do his best to finally find a home with the Brooklyn Bruisers. He’ll just keep his head down and play his heart out. He will specifically avoid the coming out convo like the one he had a team before that he is sure resulted in one of those dreaded trades. He also doesn’t hook up with this very attractive guy he meets at a bar because – the bad luck never ends – they find out that they’re next door neighbors in the same building. To add insult to injury, he is also the new athletic trainer for the Bruisers…

Gavin is a single dad with lots of responsibilities and he also needs his life to be “uneventful”. Well, too bad, because there is no way he will be able to keep away from Hudson… literally.

I love how Sarina Bowen writes. PERIOD. Plus, when she writes about queer love she has a very delicate hand that makes everything swoony. These two are precious and you root for them from the moment their eyes meet at the bar.

You feel for Hudson and his need to “belong”. You want to send his father/agent to the deep pits of hell and see Hudson live his own life. Gavin is all sorts of adorable. He’s the most dedicated dad to Jordyn, who’s the cutest hockey fan ever!

A great story – lots of swoony moments (and steamy ones too).

Narration: Teddy Hamilton is just perfect as the sweet and sensitive Gavin. J.F. Harding is amazing as the conflicted Hudson. This was my first time listening to him and definitely won’t be the last!

Rep and possible triggers: queer romance. MM. One MC is gay and the other is bi. Toxic relationship with a parent, death of a spouse (historical)
