We are back in the True North universe with this low angst, friends to lovers, “it’s always been you” story. I loved every moment of it. From Leila’s drunken “baby daddy” proposition to the whole town basically knowing that they’ve always meant to be together. I love the family dynamics. (C’mon, only brothers can come up with the nickname “designer Jesus”!) and the beautiful bond between Mateo and Leila. A wonderful story that will definitely hit you in the feels.
Narration: Jason Clarke is absolutely perfect in this as Mateo, showing all the pining and the loyalty he has for Leila. Now, Lessa Lamb kills it as Leila! What wonderful performance! Perfection!
