The Edens #5

Audible audiobook

Author: Devney Perry

Narrators: Lucy Rivers and Connor Crais

The last time we saw Lyla she was being shooed away from the her coffee shop by her twin sister. She’s right to do so as Lyla does nothing but run the shop and dote on her nephews and nieces. So, Lyla decides to take the free time and do something she hasn’t done in a long time – go on a hike. Sadly, things go horribly wrong because Lyla runs into a hunter who gets spooked, attacks her, tries to strangle and suddenly miraculously leaves her.

Vance has been hunting a killer for over four years and when he hears of this attack in Quincy, he believes he finally found him. And, lo and behold, the man who attacked Lyla is the man who haunts his nightmares.

From the moment they meet there’s an immediate connection. Maybe shared trauma or just instalust, but they can’t keep away from each other while they, covertly, try to find Lyla’s attacker.

I had a lot of fun with this one! I loved how Devney Perry slowly peels away the layers of the  mystery and how she she slowly turns the powerful sexual attraction between Lyla and Vance into true feelings and respect.

As for the suspense part, I absolutely how we get an unsuspected turn of events! I am very hard to be surprised and I was! Great story!

Narration: You give a tortured, hurt, but swoony and protective hero to Connor Crais and he’ll go to town with the character. Perfect Vance! Lucy Rivers is also  amazing as Lyla, going from the recently attacked victim who can barely speak to the woman who realizes she may have just lost the love of her life.

Possible triggers: violence, mentions of violent deaths, mentions of drug use
