When Sierra Simone gifted me this paperback with a naughty smile on her face, I knew she was up to no good – the Sierra Simone kind of no good. Since I’m a big baby and can’t handle a cliffhanger, I put it away to read right before book 1 came out. Lo and behold, she had this done in audio too! perfect!
Oh boy! We all know Sierra is a master wordsmith and in the novella she pack so much good stuff you just can’t skip it! I strongly suggest you read/listen to it before heading to Salt Kiss as she sets the whole Mark/Isolde relationship in this one and it’s a doozy!
I love how religion is always in the background someway and how expertly Sierra navigates through Faith/Religion/Church. Isolde has been basically groomed as a pawn by two men: her father and her uncle. Her uncle has trained her as a “little spy” for the Church and her father uses her as a pawn, arranging a power marriage with Mark Trevena, ex-CIA and owner of a very exclusive sex club, Lyoness.
It’s a game of cat and mouse and Isolde is a baby mouse while Mark is a lethal panther. Oh boy… I can’t wait to dive into the rest of the story!
Narration: Isabelle Ruther is sort of new to me if you know what I mean. This is solo narration due to the single point of view and she’s perfect! Great male voices too!
