The Wickeds: Dark Knights At Bayside #5

e-ARC/ALC provided by author

Author: Melissa Foster

Narrators: Andi Arndt and Jacob Morgan

The last thing Blaine Wicked expected to happen when he attended a bachelor party was that he would be rescuing a stripper… Oldest sibling, raised as a Dark Knight, he just can’t not step in to save Reese Wilder from a dangerous situation. The girl clearly doesn’t belong there and he soon finds out that the reasons that led her to this “side gig” are even more dangerous than the situation he just saved her from. His protective instincts kick in and he’ll do anything to help the forensic scientist who’s doing anything in her power to shelter her teenager sister. She’s far too innocent, he’s far too old, she’s far too independent, he’s far too Wicked… but she’s Wilder.

Believe me when I tell you that you are not ready for Blaine Wicked, whose last name couldn’t be more appropriate. I just loved how he thinks he’s “dark” when he’s such a GOOD man. The way he cares for Reese (and her teen sister) will warm your heart. I love how the “Buttercup” won’t bend to the “Bulldozer” and it’s so much fun to see the barriers Blaine built around his heart come crashing down.

As always , we catch up with beloved characters. In this one, all the Wickeds are there to tease Blaine while he falls.

There is a bit of suspense. The Dark Knights have to fix things in the ways only they can. Serious subjects are dealt with, such as SA, child neglect and abandonment, addiction, and harassment but all approached in the way that only Melissa can do.

When Wicked meets Wilder, things can only ignite. Wicked book!

Narration: the audiobook for this one is perfection! There is no one better than Jacob Morgan to portray our wickedest Wicked. He can pull an alpha like no other. Plus he can carry all the other voices too. And Reese is played by The Queen. Andi Arndt brings all the vulnerability and the sass and the feels. A thousand stars!
