When you know you know and Adam Stone always knew that Piper was the one. But his friend got to her first… leaving Adam to live a carefree surfer life that includes some very bad choices involving certain substances. Then Rex dies in an accident. Piper is pregnant and he wants to step up. But he has to get his crap together or she won’t even let him near her kid. After a little “push” by his older brother, he joins the Navy and gets clean. Fast forward a few years, Piper is the owner and writer for the town gazette, raising her boy and Adam has really turned his life around. He doesn’t understand why Piper is so reluctant to give them a chance. She knows he loves her and adores son, but she’s carrying a secret. Something dark that gave her physical and emotional scars…

I loved Piper and Adam together. I absolutely adored how devoted Adam was to her boy. This book deals with the tough subject of domestic abuse and how hard it is to deal with the scars in leaves on a person. Adam is the perfect person to help Piper believe in love again and to heal.

I wish the book was longer. I needed certain thing to happen more slowly (yes, I know it took them forever to be together), but Adam was top tier book boyfriend and was expecting a few things from him that didn’t happen and I believe it was because the last quarter of the book is a little rushed. So many important things happened and I wanted them to develop more organically.

I love that he falls first, that there is only one bed, that he goes “who did this to you?”. They are fire together and they make you root for them.

There is a bit of suspense and you also get to find who’s been leaving signs all over town. Overall, I loved being back in Eureka.

Thank you, Tia Louise, for the chance to read this early.
