Hockey player, brother’s best friend, teenage crush, fake dating him for PR? Yup, we have it all and I was here for it!

Briggs Conley has been “acting up” lately. To the point that the Hawkeyes’ management has to intervene and hire a PR company to clean up his image, as things have gotten so bad he’s even being blackmailed.

To his utter surprise, they come up with a cockamamie “girl next door girlfriend” plan to change his damaged public image. One small hitch in this plan: Autumn, the proposed “girl next door” actually IS that girl, the one who grew up on the house next door and his best friend’s little sister. Said best friend (and an MMA fighter no less) will rearrange Briggs’s face if he ever so much looks at Autumn funny. What’s he going to say to them living together?

Autumn is in a pickle: she really needs this PR stunt to work because that’s what her promotion at work is depending on. But pretending she’s in love with the boy she always loved is going to be a lot of temptation… And Briggs is all for being tempting…

I really enjoyed this one! We soon find that Briggs has all the reasons in the world to be misbehaving. Autumn is passionate, loving and loyal and Briggs is cocky, but swoony and sweet.

Narrated by a pairing I didn’t know I needed in my life – Erin Mallon brings the youthful,  joyful but vulnerable Autumn to life and Christian Fox’s performance as the cocky, full of swagger but all warm and gooey on the inside Briggs is just perfect! A dual narration by these two powerhouses that is perfectly in synch in tone and performance.

Lots of fun! My first Kenna King book and it won’t be my last. Thank you for allowing me to listen to this early!
