The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Redemption Ranch #4
e-ARC provided by author
We’re back in Redemption Ranch, where broken souls (human or animal) go to heal. This is Sasha Whiskey and Ezra Moore (and his adorable little guy, Gus)’s story.
Sasha and Ezra met as teenagers. They shared a kiss at a party that neither one would ever be able to forget. To her surprise, a few weeks later, he shows up at the ranch – a troubled teen in need of counseling and guidance. Sasha was his therapist’s daughter and therefore off limits.
Years pass and Ezra is back at the ranch now as a therapist himself, with his little boy. Being a single dad and raising his son at the ranch where he found a new family and a job means everything to him. And he’s near Sasha, who is now his best friend.
Sasha has held a major crush on Ezra since that fateful kiss. Now they are friends and she’s an important part of little Gus’s life, his “Sugar”. They both work at the ranch, where there is a strict non-dating rule between employees, but as the years pass, they are finding harder and harder to resist the pull… The person they both love the most is Gus and they will do anything to keep him safe and happy and living in the ranch. When they can’t resist anymore, things get complicated.
It’s not a secret I love Melissa’s writing and I was waiting impatiently for Sasha and Ezra’s story. I was definitely not disappointed! I am a sucker for “it’s always been you” and in this one it’s mutual! It was a joy to see Ezra turn from troublemaker teen to swoony single dad. Sasha is an amazing young woman who is desperately in love with her best friend and his kid. You root for them to finally be the family that they are meant to be.
This story is a warm hug. Gus is the most adorable little guy and we get the Whiskeys in top form in their meddling ways. There are cameos from the folks from Peaceful Harbor too! Loved it and I can’t wait for Doc’s story now!
Possible triggers: child abandonment, toxic relationships
