Unexpectedly In Love #4
ALC provided by Must Love Audio
Author: Erin Hawkins
Narrators: Erin Mallon and Christian Fox
Who doesn’t swoon over a reformed bad boy? And Rhys Spencer is one for the books! Ever since his parents died, he’s been living a life of debauchery and hedonism. He’s approaching 30, though, and that’s when it hits him that he may lose the opportunity to be president of The Spencer Foundation, his parents’ legacy. Not only that, but he will lose it to his cousin/nemesis, Jerrod, who’s been vying the position and has been preparing for it. He’ll have to mend his ways pretty soon or the board won’t even consider him for the position.
Everything changes when he RSVPs for a friend’s wedding and the bride has her best friend “babysitting” him during the wedding. The babysitter is none other than Colette Davenport, his childhood friend. Well, look at that! She can clean up his image and he can help her “loosen up” and become a better dancer. As they spend time together, they rekindle the bond they had as children and the bad boy proves to be way more of a softie and the virginal ballerina has a bold girl inside wanting to come out. They reconnect one corporate dinner or charity event at a time and everything that’s supposed to be “fake”becomes very very real.
I loved all the previous books in the series but this one is definitely my favorite. Rhys proves to be excellent book boyfriend material under all his flamingo shirts, designer loafers and lavender suits. Lettie is as sweet as can be and is such a dedicated ballerina with a heart of gold. You just want to be her friend.
Narrated by two of my favorites, Erin Mallon and Christian Fox, in dual style and I loved it! Erin portrays the innocent but confident ballerina marvelously. Who better to bring swagger and swoon to this alphamellow better than The Fox? Audio heaven!
Be prepared for swoony acts of service, secret grand gestures, tutu making, cute kitties, flashy suits, a reliable dance partner, a loyal assistant, swifties, and a band of amazing friends. Do not miss the epilogue that ties the whole series! LOVED IT!
Thanks, Erin and Must Love Audio!
Content notes: mentions of death of parents, divorce, children with terminal diseases. Toxic relationship with a family member.
