After a chance encounter after her interview, Tristan Daltrey is immediately intrigued by this girl who has no clue who he is and ends up requesting that she is hired for the job. Life on the road pretty soon brings them closer. They enjoy each other’s companies, Emily is far from starstruck and soon feelings develop. But things are not easy: he’s 15 years older than her, technically her boss, and she’s hiding something that will change his life forever.
Narrated dual style by Andi Ardnt, who’s just perfect as the sassy but vulnerable Emily and by Connor Crais, who is a delight as the 38-year-old rockstar falling deeply for his 23-year-old assistant. It would only be even more perfect if Penelope had made him sing. 😉
The title will deceive you in the best of ways, as you’re slowly taken through the story to find out Emily’s secret.
If you are a fan of slow burns, age gaps, rockstars who are not full of themselves, a band that is tighter than family, healing wounds through love and understanding (and therapy), this is definitely for you.
I’m being very vague about the secret because it’s a major plot point that I didn’t see coming and I really liked the surprise. It’s a touching twist of events that will make you feel even more for Emily and Tristan.
