Happily Ever After Mishaps #3

Audiobook provided by Must Love Audio

Author: Kendall Hale

Narrators: Vanessa Edwin and Christian Fox

Zoe Harper and Max McAllister are sort of “frenemies” (or rather friends who banter… A LOT). Actually, at some point, Max even thought they could have “something” – but he finds out about Tom The Tool, the boyfriend, and friendzones himself.

Zoe has been living in a rut. Her boyfriend has no intention of making a deeper commitment. her job is not fulfilling anymore, so she decided to leave Tom and maybe even open her own practice.

Enter Max again, sending her luck when he knows she’s not eating (and lunch she can actually eat due to her dietary restrictions), finding her a new apartment, offering to teach her how to be more spontaneous.  They get into a “friends with all the benefits but one” situation.

When they attend a destination wedding in Fiji together (their friends and families are really intertwined), they have a “oh screw it” moment and spend a glorious night together. The next day they’re back to pretending they barely tolerate each other. But Zoe came back with a little parting gift that will flip their worlds upside down.

Oh, I loved this audiobook! Narrated dual style by Vanessa Edwin and Christian Fox: Vanessa is amazing as usual as the loving, passionate lawyer. She’s specially endearing when Zoe is pregnant, with the mood swings and the waterworks. Christian brings all the swoon as the alphamellow former SEAL who thinks he’s a commitment-phobe, but when in fact, the only person he’s always wanted to commit to was Zoe. He so “falls first”.

It’s fun to watch them navigate through their feelings, their very meddling families and get to their HEA. Don’t let the cutesy cover fool you! Even their banter is hot!

For lovers of heroes whose love language is acts of service, heroines who want to do go in the world, destination weddings, “oh screw it” moments and grand gestures of all sizes. LOVED IT.

Thanks, Kendall Hale and @mustloveaudio for the advanced listen.
