Oaks Sisters #1

ebook and audiobook from Libby

Author: Jillian Meadows

Narrators: Victoria Connoly and Jason Clarke

Millie Oaks is a ray of sunshine. She’s an entomologist who loves her job as a curator at a natural sciences museum. When the director of the department retires, she decides to pursue a larger role and apply to be his replacement. The only wrench in her plans is Finn, the astronomer. The grump is on the interviewing committee and he has been less than welcoming to her.

Finn isn’t actually a a grump. The poor man is dealing with the loss of his beloved sister who left him in charge of his adorable 5-year-old nieces. Between burning dinners and fumbling with French braids, he has also had to deal with the gravitational pull the alluring Millie exerts around him. It’s not their jobs on the line – it’s their hearts.

OMG, this is absolutely adorable! I loved the setting, the secondary characters (if you read Wreck My Plans, you have met Lena!) and those cute little girls. I loved hating Finn’s parents and Millie’s piece of crap ex! As for Millie, she’s recovering from a very toxic relationship and we can applaud her for fighting for agency. Finn is a walking green flag: he’s attentive, respectful, supportive and swoony. You root for their little family to be together from the beginning.

This Earphones Award Winner audiobook is narrated in dual style by Victoria Connoly and Jason Clarke and boy did they deserve the win! Victoria is amazing as Millie, showcasing her sunshiny ways along with her vulnerability. Grumpy Jason is always a delight, especially when the grumpiness comes from a swoony place. All the stars for both!

If you love girls who are not afraid of bugs, boys who are starry-eyed in more ways than one and who are afraid of bugs, small but incredibly meaningful gestures, little girls who dance to Disney songs and friends who will step up for you, don’t miss this one! You will definitely get the butterflies reading this!
