Vanessa Cordero used to have a profitable yet strange gig in college: The Starter Ex. For a fee, she would date your crush, be a total nightmare and then when the next girl came (the one who hired her), she’ll look like an angel in comparison. When her sister (to who she feels indebted to) finds out about this, she asks her to be the starter ex for Jason, her best friends’s brother. She has been eyeing him forever but he only sees her as a sister. Perfect plan! 

Jason Torres is a 29-year-old commitment-phobe (for reasons), so he’s more than happy to date the beautiful Vanessa so that his mom will be off his back. 

So, the plot thickens, because Jason was supposed to ditch the inappropriate, loud Vanessa and he seems to be getting more attached to her as days go by. To make matters worse, Vanessa is starting to see that the man of her sister’s dreams might be hers too. 

Narrated dual style by Miranda Joy and Noah B. Perez, this was a short, fun, hilarious audiobook that is perfect for relaxing and having a good time.  Miranda is new to me and she rocks the Spanish but I had a little trouble figuring out when she was  saying Jason’s lines. I loved her voice though and I hope to hear more from her. Noah B. Perez is amazing as Jason. Flawless Spanish, swoony when needed and very funny too. 

The “resolution”for the possible conflict between the sisters felt a little too obvious to me and I could  see it coming a mile away, but it was fun to see it happen. 

All in all a fun experience.
