The Nashville Knights Hockey #1
ARC provided by author
Author: Emily Silver
Harper has been living her life as an elementary school teacher in Nashville, convinced that she put her past away. The past is called Marcus Evans, hockey player, love of her life … and her ex-husband, or so she thought. She believed that there was a mishap with their marriage license in Vegas and they were never married, but it turns out they are pretty much still married. The worst thing? He shows up at her school as a parent! Of 7-year-old twin girls! She demands that they have their marital status fixed, but Marcus sees this as a chance to right the wrongs from the past and claim back his wife.
This book is exactly what I needed! Harper is a fun, sassy and loving teacher and I was moved by how she fell in love with the girls! Marcus did hurt Harper (A LOT), but he was 22, facing unspeakable hurts and an unexpected future that they hadn’t planned forfeit, so he acted like a 22-year-old. It was sweet how Harper managed to forgive him and embrace the girls in her life. (There is some conflict with Marcus’ mom, but it’s nicely resolved like adults and I appreciated that so much!).
I also feel in love with the whole hockey team! They’re funny, supportive (without passing a chance for some good ribbing) and kind of adorable. I can hardly wait to see what’s in store for them!
Perfect if you like a “it’s always been you”, second chance, single dad, “I can’t get enough of you” hockey romance!
Thanks, Emily for the ARC!
