Toronto Terror #4
ALC and ARC provided by author
Author: Helena Hunting
Narrators: Stella Bloom and Stephen Dexter
Three years ago, Roman met the woman of his dreams. They spent two days of pure bliss and then she disappeared without a goodbye. The years passed and she plagues his thoughts as “the one who got away”. Fast forward to now and he’s introduced to the new assistant coach, Alexandria – his “Lexi”, who’s now his boss.
When Lexi left Roman’s bed three years ago, she thought she was doing the right wing. She never told him she knew who he was because she was mesmerized by Roman the man, not the hockey player. Now, she’s his coach and he’s even more off limits.
Well, their hearts and bodies didn’t get the memo….
Oh how I loved this one! Narrated dual style by two favorites, Stella Bloom and Stephen Dexter, who knock it out of the park (wrong sport, I know!). Stella is astounding as the young woman who became the guardian to her teenage and 8-year-old sisters, as the first female coach in the league and as the woman who’s completely, unequivocally in love with “her goalie”. Her performance is flawless usual. Stephen is as perfect as Roman: the single dad who’s still grappling with the fact that his baby girl is now living with his best friend, the man who’s been pining for a dream woman who’s back in his life, the loving father figure to two grieving little girls… His performance is. emotional, funny and swoony.
As in all Helena’s books, we have “family”. The Toronto Terror family is strong and when you add the Badass Babe Brigade, they are phenomenal . I love how close and supportive they are without holding back from major ribbing. Also, a certain feud ends and the reason for it is HILARIOUS! You’ll see….
So, yeah, I’m here grinning writing this review and counting the days when I get to spend time with the Terrors again. A thousand stars!
Thank you, Helena, for having me as a part of your BBB and giving me the opportunity to listen early!
Content notes: mentions of death of parents, grief, misogyny in the workplace
