If you’ve been to Redemption Ranch, you’ve met Seeley ‘Doc’ Whiskey, the ranch’s vet and one of the Whiskey boys. You also know that you can’t say the name ‘Juliette’ in front of him. When he was 19, he fell in love with the governor’s daughter. They were deeply in love until she was abruptly taken from the ranch and cuts all ties to him. He tries everything to get her back, risking his own life and his family’s legacy. And when he sees her engagement announcement, he finally believes she saw him as a summer fling.
Years later, to his shock and horror, when he’s about to get into the elevator at the local hospital after visiting the kids in the Dark Knight’s Deer Run, he runs into her. And she’s not alone.
Im going to be vague about more of the plot because I do believe that, even though nothing happens is a “twist”, you’ll appreciate figuring things out about what happened to lead Doc and Juliette to be apart alongside the couple. They’ve been hurt by so many secrets, but they are meant to be together.
Their journey is hard. They’ve lost 16 years and there are gaps that need to be filled, especially for Doc, but their love is so beautiful and strong and you just cheer for them to make it.
As always, FAMILY is a big theme in Melissa’s books and the Whiskeys show up and step up. They also have the added dark knights family and they show up beautifully in this one.
I got teary-eyed quite a few times but my heart was full in the end. LOVED IT!
