Bluebird Basin #2
LibroFM Audiobook
Author: Jess K. Hardy
Narrators: Andi Arndt and Stephen Borne
Mira Harlow has her plate full. She’s a single mom, a caretaker for her mom and she runs the local bakery. The last thing she needs is her ex showing up at the bakery flaunting his new wife. He’s in town for the wedding of a mutual friend. When asked if she’s dating anyone, she panics and literally kisses the first man to come through the door. Surprisingly, he goes along with the ruse…
Cole Sanderson, former punk rock drummer kinda famous in the 90s, is in town for his best friend’s wedding. They asked him to pick up some tarts at the bakery and when he’s basically attacked by the gorgeous baker with lips like sugar, who’s he to do anything but go along with it? This meet-cute becomes a date for the wedding and from there a long distance texting relationship, as he lives in Seattle with his daughter and his granddaughter.
When an opportunity arises to go back to Montana and be near Mira, he jumps on it. Both of their plates are full, but they sure can make room for each other, can’t they?
The audiobook is narrated dual style by Andi Arndt and Stephen Borne. Andi can do no wrong and she shines as Mira, the 50-year-old who can’t believe she’s feeling like a giddy teenager and who is also parenting a kid and caring for a parent. Stephen has a raspy, low voice that screams rockstar (or better yet, “fvcking drummer”). They both show the vulnerabilities and the strength of both characters beautifully.
I love being back at Bluebird Basin, where people who are “older” are pretty much alive, vibrant, sexy and living full lives! As with the previous book, delicate subjects area dealt with caring and respect.
It was a joy to follow their journey. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book!
