Audiobook Review

Thanks, #partners LM Halloran and Must Love Audio for the advanced copy.

I am unwell. I just finished First Verse, book 1 in the A Perfect Song duet, and my heart is broken for these two young people.

Evangeline has been “in something” with Wilder since she was little. Their parents are in a legendary band together and they are following them in their footsteps. They were childhood friends who vowed to never “cross that line” but who were in an inevitable collision course. And collisions usually end in injuries and casualties.

They live through being in a band together, breaking up as musical partners, not speaking to each other, to finally succumbing to the irresistible pull towards each other. They love deeply, but their demons are powerful and their love is so toxic.

They live through anxiety and depression and addiction and they are left at a point where they have to shatter so that they can heal. I can’t wait to see what’s happens next!

The audiobook is narrated duet style by Isabelle Ruther and Austin Stone and it’s beautifully done. I confess I had to take a few breaks while listening because they made me feel so much for Eva and Wilder. Amazing performances!

Content notes: heavy emotional angst, anxiety disorder, depression, toxic relationships, active addiction (including withdrawal, detox and relapse on page), extreme fear of the dark, panic attack on page
