Wells Ranch #3

Libby e-book and LibroFM audiobook

Author: Bailey Hannah

Narrators: Savannah Peachwood and John Lane

When Denver Well’s mom tells him to guy buy Blair a soda and talk to her, the twelve-year-old wasn’t too happy. What Denny didn’t know was that he was meeting his best friend, soul mate and love of his life. The soda is bought, a friendship is forged and they are joined at the hip progressing from friends to teenage sweethearts. They’re madly in love and they know they belong together forever. All crashes down when they are eighteen. Life happens in a harsh way and the unbelievable happens: they break up. They go their separate ways. Denny stays at the ranch, dates a ton of girls in town, living as a happy-go-lucky brother and uncle… until Blair comes to Wells Canyon after a decade.

Blair has been avoiding Wells Canyon for fourteen years, but with her mom’s new diagnosis, she (now a nurse practitioner) leaves Vancouver and goes back home. She knew she couldn’t avoid Denny forever. He’s everywhere with his charming smile, his sexy cowboy ways. But will they be able to get over the hurt that broke them up?

Narrated dual style by Savannah Peachwood and John Lane. Savannah is amazing as Blair. We see her go from 12 years old to adult Blair and she does it perfectly. It’s been a while since I listened to John Lane and it was nice to do it again.

The story goes back and forth in time until we finally find out why they broke up. It wasn’t exactly unexpected and I understood that it had to be something of that magnitude to break them up. I was conflicted between the two sides and my heart was breaking for both.

It’s a beautiful second chance romance, where two people who found their person in their tweens have to grow up so that they can actually live the HEA they were always supposed to. Blair is also an independent woman and Denver’s love language became acts of service so there is some adjusting to be made. Spicy and sweet.

I can’t wait for the next one.

Content notes (spoilers): death of a loved one, Alzheimer’s diagnosis and treatment, unexpected pregnancy, abortion, riding injuries
