ALC provided by Must Love Audio
Author: Willow Aster
Narrators: Vanessa Edwin and Connor Crais
Thanks, @willowaster and @mustloveaudio for the ALC!
Penn Hudson may be an honorary member of the Single Dad’s Playbook club but he has no intention to fall in love ever. That thought never even crossed his mind. That is, until he meets Addy in the Bahamas and they have an unbelievable connection. To his dismay, she leaves without saying goodbye or leaving a contact.
Addy knows exactly who Penn is when they meet on the island, but she doesn’t tell him that she’s his coach’s daughter. Now she’s in a pickle because she’s just been hired as the new dietitian for the Colorado Mustangs. When she’s finally introduced to the team, Penn is both shocked and elated. Pursuing Addy will be a problem, though, as Coach hates him…
The attraction is irresistible and they reconnect. That’s when Addy learns that Penn is trying to become the guardian of an 11-year-old boy he’s been mentoring and who’s in foster care – Sam. When Sam’s situation becomes dangerous, Penn is at wits’ end, as social services don’t think he’s fit to foster Sam due to his bachelordom. That’s when Addy offers a lifeline: a marriage of convenience to that they can be approved. But how do you ‘fake’ something that feels incredibly real?
The audiobook is narrated dual style by two favorites: Vanessa Edwin and Connor Crais. Vanessa’s voice is soothing and melodic and perfect for Addy, who’s lovely and sweet. Connor gives Penn the swagger he has in the beginning and the tenderness of a man who’s falling in love in all sorts of ways – as a father and a husband. He also provides a distinct voice to each and every one of the single dads! Amazing performances.
Though I love their romance, I was completely smitten by them becoming a little family. Little Sam made me cry a couple of times. Also, the ‘found family’ here is so touching and you fall in love with all the not-so-single-anymore dads. Loved it!
