Thanks, NetGalley and the author for the ALC.
Cassandra Parker’s dream life as a publicist in NYC goes up in flames when in an incident involving one of her clients has her boss/fiancé shipping her off you to the middle of nowhere in Texas for a job she definitely has no interesti in doing: publicity for a cattle ranch?! To make matters worse, she finds herself having to stay at the rancher’s house with – GASP! The horror! – his two children. Her nightmare gets worse by the minute.
Christian Griffith really has no time for this crap. This publicist was hired by his dad, no one prepared the cabin she was supposed to stay in and now she’s prancing her hot little ass around his house, making his daughters think she’s some kind of (evil) Disney princess. And his blood boil. The two of them will clash, she’ll have to ‘endure’ the girls’ admiration and he’ll see right through her façade. Will these opposites attract?
This ‘fish out of water’ story was fun to listen to. Mind you – it will take a while for you to warm up to Cassandra. She’s not easy to love. In the end, just like Christian and the girls we start to get her. I loved that the author never gave her a ‘personality makeover’. She gets to be loved exactly as she is. Christian is a breath of fresh air. The cowboy is a dad with an actual ‘dad bod’ and that makes him even more attractive. He’s real. And when you get to find out why he has long hair, your heart will melt.
The audiobook is narrated dual style by Sophie Daniels and Dane Anderson. I enjoyed their performances but I (who never advocate duet over dual) think this story in particular would have benefited from duet narration, as it would have helped us ‘bond’ with Cassandra better.
I enjoyed the story and I am invested in this family now! I need to know what happens the next brother in the series.
Content notes: mentions of cheating (not MCs), estranged relationships with family, death of a spouse, death of a parent. On page: bull riding accident with hospitalization
