ALC provided by Hachette Audio via NetGalley

Narrators: Brooke Bloomingdale and Ryan Hudson
Thanks, Hachette Audio and Sarina Bowen for the ALC.
Zoe Carson has new lease on life: recently divorced and freshly hired as the skating coach for the New York Legends. It will take her away from her ‘dance mom’ mother, the figure skating world and her cheating ex-husband/agent. Unfortunately, she will have to be face to face with the team’s star player, Chase Merritt, who broke her teenager heart.
Chase’s game is… off. That’s being throwing him for a loop and the last thing he needs is to be coached by the ice princess who ruined his life, telling him what he’s doing wrong.
In the past, they were magic on the ice, and when an old video of them skating goes viral, they’re forced into doing it again for charity. Will they be able to be in synch now, on the ice and off?
Told in dual timelines, you slowly find out how they met, how things fell apart and you finally learn (alongside with Zoe) why Chase hates her. (Or not…)
There is a small mystery subplot where Zoe is being harassed by someone and it keeps things interesting.
The audiobook is narrated dual style by Brooke Bloomingdale and Ryan Hudson. Brooke’s warm, melodious and expressive voice embodies the determined yet vulnerable Zoe. It’s my first time listening to Ryan and his deep, warm tone suits the swoony, broken athlete.
As in all Sarina’s books, we get a vibrant and colorful cast of secondary characters. I am curious as to whose story we will get next.
My only wish is that we had a bit more of their actual romance. There are so many things happening around them in both timelines and I wish we spent more time with the romance itself. But it’s a Sarina book, so you’ll definitely have a great time.
For fans of hockey romance, second chances and ‘it’s always been you’.
Content notes: toxic relationship with a parent, death of a parent, child abuse (physical and psychological), substance abuse, bullying and harassment in the workplace, cheating (not MCs)
