Thanks, @mustloveaudio and @authormaggiegates for the ALC.
We are back with the WWs to get Willow’s story and in true romance novel fashion, the romance writer gets a meet-cute: at the checkout counter at a convenience store while she’s buying a vibrator!
It can’t get worse, right? Erm, it can! She finds out the next day at Rom Con that the hunky guy is the keynote speaker and he is none other than Ryan Ford, a “bro” who has a dating podcast she finds obnoxious. And when they meet again, he dares her. He’ll apply The Ford Method and make her fall in love with him. Media goes wild thinking it’s a publicity stunt, but Ryan won’t miss the opportunity to get closer to the pink-haired hurricane that knocked him on his ass. Things get complicated for Willow when a terrible loss sends her on a road trip she’s been dreading and Ryan tags along. He might win her over… if she doesn’t kill him first.
OMG, I loved Willow and Ryan’s story! Their road trip is funny, full of snarky banter and at the same time it gives Willow the most green flag hero she could hope for her own HEA. She’s developed a tough exterior but Ryan is finding all the cracks and slipping in.
The audiobook is narrated dual style by Laura Horowitz and JF Harding and both of them wowed me with their performances. Laura conveyed Willow’s personality perfectly and JF gave us a warm, charming and alluring Ryan. We also get a special appearance as a surprise character by Jason Clarke that is poignant and heartwarming.
A wonderful road trip with a skittish romance author who just wants to be loved, a dating coach who’s ready to give all that love to her, pierogis and hot chocolate as love language, family secrets revealed, besties who will show up no matter what, ‘unconventional kidnappings and interrogations’, all the first editions and an a HEA to warm your soul.
LOVED IT!
Content notes: death of a loved one, grief, cheating (not MCs), toxic family relationships
