Whitney Hart is at wit’s end: she’s struggling with a rebellious 10-year-old, her ex is useless and she has to work to keep their heads above water. When Jonas is almost expelled from school and her future brother-in-law offers to ‘watch’ him so that her sister can also get a break from babysitting, she’s not expecting that he’ll be handed over to Colt.
Colt wasn’t expecting to be a ‘cowboy nanny’ and definitely wasn’t expecting to find the kid fun to be around. He soon becomes a mentor to Jonas and Jonas finally finds a worthy male role model.
The complicating factor is Whit, Jonas’ mom. Colt slowly becomes her friend and his feelings turn into more. The attraction is mutual, but Whit carries something that makes very insecure. Maybe Colt will be the one to make her feel that she is not ‘less than’.
If you have been visiting the Wells Ranch, you’ve already met Colt, Whit and Jonas and you will love seeing their story develop. And yes, it’s a love story of them becoming a family. The fun-loving Colt is as green flag as they can be and perfect for the exhausted and overwhelmed single mom Whit.
Colt falls first and falls hard. I loved watching him and his internal monologue, trying to figure out what the hell is happening to his heart. I loved how he connected with Jonas and their relationship had me AAAWWWing at times.
Whit is amazing. She has a lot to handle and I loved that they started out as friends. This one had me rooting for them so much it wasn’t funny.
As an audio girlie, I had to go ahead and get the audiobook. After all, it’s Stella Hunter as Whit and who else could it be other than Teddy Hamilton to portray this adorable, goofy, golden retriever cowboy? The audiobook is a must! Loved it!
