Toronto Terror #6

Thanks, @helenahunting for the ARC.
Well, time to say goodbye…and we part ways with Flip finally admitting to himself that it was Tally Vander Zee who has been the one for him all this time. Yes, she’s the coach’s daughter. Yes, she’s 21. Yes, he has a bad rep that he has been trying to shake for the past two years. Nothing has ever broken his resistance… until she comes asking for a ‘favor’: punch her V-card.
Tally is tired of being a shortcut to hear dad, the Terror’s coach. She’s also tired of being ‘the last virgin on campus’. And, what’s the most tiring thing of all? Hiding that she’s she’s had a major crush on Flip Madden since FOREVER. (Well, neither one is hiding anything from a anyone, but I digress…) Sp, she takes matters into her own hands and takes agency: if you want a problem solved….
I absolutely adored Flip and Tally from the start! It was lovely to see Tally’s teenage crush develop into real feelings and to see Flip grow from ‘party boy’ (and the reason he became one will break your heart) to top tier, green flag, incredibly tender boyfriend.
The story is the most delicious slow burn. Flip, when he caves, is the one to ask for things to go slow. His devotion and dedication to tally are endearing. We also want to protect Tally. She’s thrown into the romance she’s dreamed of her whole life, but the world seems adamant on making things hard for her.
The Terror are all there (plus the Tilton gang) and they show up. The boys band up to help Flip navigate these emotions he fought tooth and nail. The BBB is there to protect and guide Tally. Like the big family that they are.
I will be sad to say goodbye, but the Terror ties to Tilton guarantee that we will see some glimpses of our favorites in the future.
Thanks, Helena, for this reformed bad boy, age gap, coach’s daughter, slow burn, steamy friends to lovers, ‘it’s always been you’ finale we were hoping for!
Content notes: (including but not limited to) mentions of divorce and past food insecurity, abandonment issues
