Lucky River Ranch #5

Thanks, @jessicapauthor for the ALC.

I’m truly sad to leave Lucky River Ranch because I have been rooting for the whole gang like they’re family. In Ryder, we finally get to see Billie Wallace catch the attention of the last single Rivers boy.

Billie has crushed on Ryder since she was ten but he has never encouraged her. When Billie finally takes a chance at barrel racing and gets into a nasty accident, all bets are off: Ryder is jumping into that arena like a Marvel hero. He just can’t hide that Billie has his heart… a heart he’s terrified to give away. Because the only thing worse than not loving is losing the ones  you love. And Ryder knows too well how that feels.

The audiobook is narrated dual style by Lila Winters and Stephen Dexter, who narrated the whole series brilliantly. Lila is amazing with her soft Texan drawl. She makes Billie funny, sassy and vulnerable. Stephen’s deep drawl will have any girl hoping to wear Ryder’s hat. Poor Billie never stood a chance!

It’s a story of simple people, living simple lives with bigger dreams. I loved how supportive Ryder is of Billie’s dreams of racing and living a more fulfilling life.

It’s also a story of ‘it’s always been you’, with best friend’s little sister drama, ‘roses and thorns’ dinners, family time, hooky tonks, embracing your love for music again and finding your forever love… who’s always been right there!

And yes, Jessica just let us champing at the bit for a certain brother’s story! I can’t wait!
