Thanks, @Netgalley for the ALC.

When Nola flees her abusive relationship and drives to LA after a phone call from her best friend, she wasn’t expecting to find out that Rachel has just been informed that she is dying. She also has to face her teenage crush turned into international movie star, Easton. She has loved him all her life and now she has to deal with Rachel’s death, co-parenting her goddaughter and living with this man for whom she always had deep feelings. Easton is devastated to lose his baby sister in such a horrible way. He avoided dating all his life and now he has Nova, bringing all sorts of feelings and cracking his heart wide open.

The audiobook is beautifully narrated by Chloe Ryan and Christian Fox in duet and they are absolutely flawless in the story and their performances alone will break your heart.

I’m not going to lie that I wasn’t underwhelmed by the story. In the beginning I was fully invested and deeply moved by Rachel’s situation and how Nova and Easton stop up. I cried my eyes out when Rachel passed and was ready for an epic romance to develop. It just didn’t. It felt instalove-y on Easton’s side even with their past connection. I kept waiting for it to become the story I was hoping for and it kept fizzing out.

I appreciate that there was not too much trauma dumping, but even the reappearance of the abusive ex was just… meh.

The audio experience was 10 out of 10, though, which proves that good narration can do wonders for a story.
