Jillian Williams needs to finish her oil paintings for her next showing, so she escapes to a cabin in the small and remote town of Wamba, TX,  hoping for peace and quiet. Well, she’s greeted by a neighbor blasting music so loud it can shake the earth… Annoyed and distressed, she marches to confront the culprit.

The person who opens the door is Wyatt Cresswell, bestselling mystery writer with a deadline around his neck, who basically had the same idea as Jillian about seclusion – but with eardrum shattering music. He wasn’t expecting neighbors, let alone the beautiful woman with the haunting eyes.

Soon they are sharing coffees, dinner and talks on the porch and her cat and her dog become friends while they become lovers. And the words start flowing for Wyatt and the drawings for Jillian. Maybe all they needed was a muse…

This short novella is around three hours of audio but out delivers a satisfying story with fleshed out characters, especially Jillian, who unexpectedly starts facing some trauma from her childhood spent in foster care.

It is narrated solo style by Brittany Pressley, who does an amazing job  in such a short audiobook. Her Texan drawl added an extra bonus that puts us right there in the small Texan town with these characters.

What you get: neighbors, a confrontational meet cute, forced proximity, adorable pets, finding your muse and a heartwarming HEA.

Note: this is a closed door romance

Content notes (included but not limited to): the FMC has had a traumatic childhood (loss of parents – drugs) and lived in foster care. There are mentions of child neglect and of SA of minor (not the FMC)
