Bound and Unbound #2

ALC provided by NetGalley

Author: Ali Hazelwood

Narrators: Tara Fatehi and Dean Miller

Thanks, Spotify Audiobooks for the ALC.

I’m always excited for any Ali Hazelwood release and I love that she has been diving into paranormal and fantasy!

Lilit of Nineveh has lived for so long she can’t even remember how old she actually is. She’s a powerful revenant (aka vampire) who has one rule: protect mortals. And in all the millennia that she has lived, she has not become attached to any of them because, well,  nothing good can come of that.

Until she meets Roman Martin, an ER doctor. She just can’t stay away and as the years pass, she realizes that she definitely doesn’t want to.

As expected, when danger comes for Lilit, Roman gets caught in the crossfire. Now she has choices to make… and so does he.

The audiobook is narrated by Tara Fatehi and Dean Miller (both new to me). As this story is told through Lilit’s POV, we get Tara doing the brunt of the work with Dean filling in for all the male voices. Tara has a beautiful and soothing voice and she gives us a Lilit with a ‘sort of British’ accent (as Lily has lived all over the world, it’s shown in her speech). I loved her ‘dialogue’ narration but I had to get used to her style of being the narrator in the story. Dean does a great job voicing all the male characters.

As it happens to any paranormal or fantasy books, I am always hoping there is more wold world building, but I was okay going into book 2 without listening to book 1, as they feel like  true standalones.

What you get: age gap (well she’s thousands of years older than him), a swoony ER doctor (with a secret), mortal/immortal shenanigans and the quintessential Ali Hazelwood touch.

Content notes (including but not limited to): violence, blood. Mentions of an incurable and terminal disease, scenes in a hospital setting
