Merrily is trying to keep the Christmas magic, even though her mom set off to Paris with her new family, and her dad and his own new family have the house up to capacity and her room is no longer hers. No sweat, it’s the perfect opportunity to live a dream and stay in the ‘Home Alone’ house (not really, but it just looks like it). But the Grinch must be working overtime because, when she gets there, the house has been stripped of all the Christmas decorations (the horror), no carols are playing but heavy metal, and someone is already very comfortably set up there: Grant Moody (even bigger horror). You see, Grant was her teenage crush and almost beau who not only broke her heart but humiliated her in front of a full theater during the annual Notcraker (no typo)  presentation. Hell no.

When Grant decided to to go home for the holidays, he opted out of staying in the family home and decided to stay at his “secret house’. What he doesn’t know is  Merrily rented the place in a clerical snafu and now all the years of avoiding her are going down the drain because the woman is determined to stay at her dream house.

Add hot chocolate with candy canes, several Christmas trees, honey drizzled waffles, decorations galore, and they’ll have to cohabitate… and face the past. Sprinkle small town shenanigans that lead to (you guessed it) fake dating and fa la la la la: they’re screwed.

This Christmas romance is quintessential Kayley. It has the swoony (but grumpy) hero, a heroine that is Christmas personified, zany secondary characters, lots of banter, sausage innuendos (sorry, no farts this time), lots of facial hair (not the sexy kind), and spice!

The audiobook is beautifully narrated by Victoria Connoly and Max Meyers in dual style. Both are favorites of mine. Victoria does an amazing job portraying the bubbly, sassy Merrily. Max is swoony and broody as the grumpy with heart of gold. They both excel at all the voices. No notes!

If you want to get into the Chritsmas spirit with a fun, light, spicy holiday romance, this will bring the holiday cheer and check  all the boxes.

Hmmmm, maybe we can have a book for a certain lawyer and his assistance? I’ll add it to my wishlist and send it to Santa!
