Thea Calloway and Lachlan ‘Lockie’ James keep crossing paths. First, a scorching night that was supposed to be a one night stand but, when they decided they could be more, they realize they are connected in ways that won’t allow it. Then, Lockie becomes Reign Cooper’s trusted bodyguard and Thea becomes his manager. The universe keeps throwing them together. They cave once in a while – the pull is too strong. Nobody knows. And then, two pink lines change everything,

I loved catching up and finding out more about Thea and Lockie. This very character driven story gives us two people who are irresistibly drawn to each other but who are so determined to be the best at what they do that they leave no room for a personal life.

Thea has to fight very hard not to be considered a nepo baby in the industry and it doesn’t help that she is also a woman. Lockie carries a world of hurt in his heart, feeling guilty for something he had no control over.

I loved how Vari played around with tropes: Lockie is a bodyguard but not Thea’s, Thea is a rockstar’s manager and not the rockstar. The age gap is irrelevant. Through dual timelines, we get to know how they became each other’s ‘mo cridhe’.

The audiobook is narrated dual style by Stella Hunter and Shane East. Dual performances are great to show the narrators’ range and Stella and Shane flex their chops. They both rock the accents and switch flawlessly between American and Scottish.

Alongside Thea and Lockie, we are put through the wringer but it’s worth it. Plus, you get to catch up with Paige, Maddox, and I loved seeing Cooper and Declan as parents and in domestic bliss.

I hope to see more of this world!
