Oh my word… CARSON. I’ve been dying for Carson’s story since the broody, unhinged, ex-con widower showed up …and I need to know what sorcery this is that makes me find this morally pitch black Mafia king so alluring???

Carson gets to shock of his life when he learns that his murdered wife might well be very much alive. He’s been existing (because he stopped living when she died) in hell and he can’t believe his beloved Rina survived. And she not only survived, she escaped and she wasn’t alone. 

I’m not telling you anything else because you want to get all the surprises and see this brutal assassin turn into mush when he gets his woman back and now he has a family?! That’s top tier (dark) book boyfriend. He’s the king of  ‘touch her and die’ (literally!) and he’ll burn down the world for their family. And he does. 

Now let me get to the other phenomenal part about this – the audiobook. Narrated in duet by Stella Hunter and Connor Crais, it’s a ‘press and play and listen till the end’ kind of audio experience. Stella is amazing as the badass nurse who doesn’t blink an eye at all the Mafia shenanigans as she grew up in that world. Rina finds the perfect voice in Stella – expressive, melodious and soothing. Now, what in the world possesses Connor in the booth because , holy hell, he accomplishes the impossible: being terrifying and irresistible at the same time. He’s been perfecting the growl and the “my wife”s and boy oh boy he becomes Carson. Plus, he does a perfect impersonation of Roman to boot. 10/10. No notes. Bravo! 

In this you’ll find: a ‘second chance romance’, an unhinged assassin who’ll do anything to protect his family, a nurse who’s a badass mama bear, found family, a very interesting piercing with a touching story behind it, a girl squad, and adorable little boy, revenge and retribution, morally gray Mafia Kings and an incredibly sweet and tender HEA.
