Thanks, @LibroFM for the ALC.

Scarlett ‘Scottie’ Calloway doesn’t believe in love. In fact, she blew up as a writer on the premise that you don’t need a man to be happy. Now, she is facing a deadline and her mind is blank, and therefore, so are her pages. She packs her stuff and heads to a lake house in Michigan for a month to see if she can ‘reboot’. To her dismay, her next door neighbor is a hunky, cocky, charming hockey player from her city, the Dallas Stampede (not that she ever heard of him…). He’s as aggravating as he is attractive and she’ll fight this attraction tooth and nail.

Chase Remington is going back to his home state, Michigan, to relax and also ‘reboot’. he’s eyeing the captaincy of the Stampedes but he has a party boy reputation that he has to clean up. When he meets Scarlett at the grocery store, she is in no way awed by his good looks or his fame and that gets him immediately interested. Plus she’s a dream to look at. And to boot, Rip, his dog has a case of ‘love at first sniff'”.

There will be banter, snarky comments, and both of them will see their walls cracking. So, when a PR opportunity gets him hosting the Stampedes Romance Book Club with Scarlett as the co-hot, that’s his opportunity to win her. Game on.

Narrated dual style by CJ Bloom and Ryan West, this is sweet and cute. CJ’s performances are always flawless and she gives us a tough-as-nails on the outside Scottie who sees her protection walls being slowly breached by the cocky hockey player. Ryan West gives us a swoony reformed playboy who’s unexpectedly smitten by his neighbor and eventual book club co-host.

It’s a sweet story of two people blindsided by feelings they weren’t supposed to catch. And there is also Rip, the sweetest and cutest dog ever!

A sweet, fun listen!

Note: closed door romance

Content notes: mentions of an accident involving a sibling, traumatic divorce of parents
